Dear Friends,

It’s my pleasure to be with you with my maiden Chairman message.

As you are aware that The India Sports Goods Industry which was founded back in 1887 is now passing through a very serious phase .With intense competition from China, Taiwan Vietnam, Bangladesh and Pakistan are giving our exporters run for the money in the international markets. Apart from this Govt of India is envisaging for new sports goods clusters across India thus hitting directly the Sports Goods Clusters of Jalandhar and Meerut. The dearth of skilled labour is another acute problem being faced by the industry in many products.

It is the right time for a team of enthusiastic SPORTTX members especially the younger generation to come forward as there is absolute need for the upgrading of the existing technology and work together, share the data base and sources to defeat the threat of foreign competitors and upcoming clusters in other states. The industry today has young heads that are competent to plan and lead. These young ones have full access to all the sources from raw material to technology and with the guidance from the senior members they can create miracles in the manufacturing sector of spots goods and toy industry.

Of course there is silver lining also as numerous manufacturers especially in Meerut have industrialised a host of new innovative sports goods products driving away from the traditional sports goods and this is the real beginning of the technology up gradation process.  I urge upon my members to move to the other sports goods still unexploited like Baseball and Gloves, Camping, High End Gym Machines, Golf, Fishing, Skiing, Cycling, Archery, Skating, and the list is endless. This will enable all of us to stand against the onslaught of the foreign manufacturers and new sports goods clusters.

SPORTTX is working hard in involving Government and Private Trade Bodies like FISME, FIEO, SPORTSCOM, MGSIPA, etc. for the feedback to the industry .In addition to this I have a vision to create a world class SPORTTX APP for the benefit of members. The recent launch of Central and State Govt. initiatives for subsidies, incentives, R& D Centre, Skill Training Programmes and eyeing into the new horizons is another encouraging phase for the entire Sports Goods and Toy Industry.

I urge upon all my SPORTTX members to unite together and share the data base with each other which can fetch magnificent results for the industry. On my part I shall do my best to keep the industry united for the advantage of the members and the sports goods and toy industry as a whole.
